New Hope for People with Borderline Personality Disorder: Your Friendly, Authoritative Guide to the Latest in Traditional and Complementary Solutions by Neil R. Bockian Ph.D., Nora Elizabeth Villagran, Valerie Porr M.A.

Patty Pheil M.S.W.:  This book is easily the best book out there for the consumer in regards to the BPD. It is also the best book for families out there for BPD.
I have kept up with all of the BPD books that come out. I just finished this book and I'm not only pleased, I'm stunned!

This book discusses EVERYTHING a consumer would want to know and more. Easy to read. Filled with knowledge about what BPD is, treatment, a special outstanding section for families - you name it, it is here. This book I know will further not only consumer's knowledge of the BPD but it is helpful not only for families but I believe clinician's will learn a great deal for treatment.

The family section reads totally without stigma, is understanding and will help you to understand that you are not alone and some things you can do to help. There is no blaming in this book, only help for the families.

If you have the BPD or are a family member, this book is priceless. In many cases it is us who have to teach our mental health clinicians how to treat us. I highly recommend getting educated about this disorder and understand that it is treatable. The information is here in this book.

lost in the mirror, richard moskovitz

Second Edition of "Lost in the Mirror: An Inside Look at Borderline Personality Disorder" by Richard Moskovitz M.D.

Patty Pheil M.S.W.:  I recommend this book to many people. I sat down and cried shortly into the first chapter. It was the very first time that someone understood me and not only that, it was as if the author had his arm around me through the entire book.

Lost in the Mirror is beautifully and gently written.

The magic of "Lost in the Mirror" is the mixture of the tremendous clinical experience and knowledge the author has (he is up to date with the research), with his very gentle, warm and caring personality.

It is also an excellent book to assist families in understanding the borderline their lives. I have heard from many family members how helpful this book has been for them.

Dr. Moskovitz brings you right up to date with his second edition in regards to treatment. He discusses the latest about psychotropic medication, EMDR and DBT.

dialectical behavior therapy, scott spradlin

Don't Let Your Emotions Run Your Life: How Dialectical Behavior Therapy Can Put You In Control by Scott Spradlin M.A.

Reader:  "DBT is a wonderful treatment for many people who become emotionally overwhelmed and try to ease their agony by doing things that just make life worse in the long run (like exploding or cutting themselves or getting smashed or ending an important relationship abruptly). This workbook makes many of Marsha Linehan's approaches (that have been proven useful in fancy research studies) understandable and useful to people who do not have a PHD in psychology.
How cool is that?!"
